IITA, AGRO-FIRM GIVE TRAINING AND SUPPORT TO OVER 1,000 YOUTHS IN ADAMAWA STATE AS 500 OTHERS GET EMPLOYMENT IN THE LIVESTOCK SECTOR

A collaborative initiative between the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) and Sebore International Farms has provided employment opportunities for 500 youths in Adamawa State’s dairy sector. The project aims to equip young people with technical and business skills to thrive in the industry.

The second group of participants has been trained in various capacities, including veterinary services, dairy production, and feed and fodder production. About 100 youths were trained as veterinary service providers, while 300 were trained in dairy production to supply milk to established markets. The remaining participants were trained in feed and fodder production to improve cattle nutrition and milk production.

According to Adetola Adenmosun, a representative of the Youth in Agribusiness unit, the initiative addresses key challenges faced by dairy farmers, including access to healthy cattle, quality feed, and reliable veterinary services.

Adenmosun commended the youths for their resilience and encouraged them to utilize the training and resources provided to improve their businesses, livelihoods, and communities. The project is expected to have a positive impact on Adamawa State’s dairy industry, enhancing productivity and improving the livelihoods of young people involved.
