The House of Representatives member for the Mbaitoli/Ikeduru (Mbaike) Federal Constituency, Hon Akarachi Amadi has flagged off the distribution of over 800 bags of fertiliser to the 63 communities in his Mbaike constituents.
This distribution took place at his Constituency Office in Owerri, the Imo state capital. In a statement issued by the Head of Communications, Irobi Darlington, the event was a reflection of Akarachi Amadi’s dedication to promoting agricultural development and ensuring food security within his constituency to provide fertiliser to the communities was aimed at boosting farm produce and ensuring food availability throughout the Mbaitoli/Ikeduru region. Akarachi recognised the critical role that agriculture plays in the lives of his constituents, and his gesture was warmly received by the beneficiaries, who appreciated his forward-thinking approach to addressing food insecurity.
Women Presidents General from each of the 63 communities were present at the event to receive the bags of fertiliser. In addition to the fertiliser, each woman leader was given N25,000 to cover transportation costs, ensuring that the fertiliser could be easily delivered to their respective communities. This thoughtful addition was met with gratitude, as it alleviates any concerns about the logistical challenges of transporting the materials.
Many constituents expressed their admiration for Hon. Akarachi’s efforts to prioritise agriculture and alleviate the pressures of food scarcity resonating, particularly, with the women, who play a pivotal role in farming and food production in the rural areas of Mbaike.
In his address, Hon. Akarachi Amadi emphasised the importance of agriculture in the economic development of the constituency. He noted that with the right support, Mbaitoli and Ikeduru could become major agricultural hubs in Imo State.
