EBONYI GOVERNOR DOLES OUT N2 BILLION TO 100 RURAL COMMUNITIES

About 2,040 people will benefit from the N2 billion being given out by Governor Francis Nwifuru in Ebonyi State. The amount is to be distributed to people in 100 rural communities to assist them in boosting their vocations. Majority of the beneficiaries would be farmers of crops or livestock being majorly an agrarian environment. The event was flagged off at the Meritona Hotel, Abakaliki, capital of the state.

It is being done under the Ebonyi State Community and Social Development Agency, EB-CSDA programme in collaboration with the Ministry of Human Capital Development and Monitoring. It is part of the World Bank-assisted NG-CARES. Governor Francis Nwifuru  who was represented by the Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Moses Ije-Odunwa, said each of the 100 communities would get N12.5 million for the development of rural projects.

He said each of 2,040 beneficiaries would receive the sum of N180, 000 in line with the governor’s people’s charter of needs mantra. The General Manager of EB-CSDA, James Egwu, who said beneficiaries of the empowerment would receive N360,000 within the two tranches of the disbursement, thankedca the governor for his strong support of human capital development. In attendance were the Commissioner for Finance, Dr Leonard Uguru; Special Assistant to the Governor on Inter-Party Affairs, Sunday Nwambam; and former state chairman of EBCSDA and current state chairman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Peter Mbam.
