The Cross River State government has announced plans to host an agro-tourism festival and an International Expo festival called CRATFEX. The festival, which will run from the 9th through 17th of August, 2024, is themed: “Building stronger food systems to strengthen the resilience of the fight against hunger in Nigeria”. Asu Abang, the lead visionary for the event says the event which has as sub-theme: “Harmonising agriculture, arts, culture and tourism for sustainable development” will be a transformative event.
He listed activities lined up for it to include agro tourism conference, agro empower initiatives, and environmental awareness campaigns. He emphasised the importance of building stronger food systems to strengthen resilience against hunger in Nigeria. The event, he said, “is a testament to our collective efforts to promote sustainable practices, support local farmers and entrepreneurs, and foster growth opportunities for all participants.”
Also speaking, the state commissioner for tourism said 90% of cultural events in the state are agriculture-based and that CRATFEX will help drive traffic to the state.
