As the month of Ramadan takes off, there has been an assurance to Muslim faithfuls that their nutritional needs would be taken care during the period. The promise comes from Promasidor Nigeria, a leading fast-moving Consumer Goods, FMCG company in the country. This pledge is contained in a release by the company, signed by Ms Adejoke Salami, the media executive. In the statement, Salami stated that Promasidor greets all Muslims ahead of the spiritual exercise filled with “ devotion, reflection, compassion and communal harmony.” According to her, the company agrees with the values of the holy month, particularly where there is emphasis on respect for one another, care for fellow being and nourishment.
She quoted Mr. Francois Gillet, chief executive officer of the company, as saying that “At Promasidor, we believe that adequate nutrition plays a vital role in sustaining both body and mind throughout the fasting period. Our brands are thoughtfully designed to support families with quality nourishment that enables them to observe the fast with strength, resilience, and good health.”
Mr. Gillet also emphasise the contribution of the company to national development and food security, as demonstrated in its consistency in the investment in local production and the backward integration initiative in the Ikun Dairy Farm in Ikun Ekiti, Ekiti State. Believed to be the largest dairy farm in the country, the Ikun Dairy Farm has 750 high yielding cattle. It provides 200 direct employment and over 1000 indirect jobs in the locality.
