For two days recently Owerri, capital of Imo State played host to herbal practitioners, scientists and policy makers, during which time discussions centred the essence of herber medicine in health management.
The grand finale of the Imo State HerbFest 2024 held at the Foret Event Center near Concorde Hotel Junction, which provided an opportunity for people to celebrate the rich potential of herbal medicine under the theme “Herbal Medicine for Sustainable Development.” The landmark event had Imo State’s Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Cosmas Maduba, alongside Commissioner for Primary Health, Dr. Prosper-Ohayagha Success, and the esteemed herb scientist, Prof. Maurice Iwu, a former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC among others in attendance.
It was done in collaboration with Bioresources Development Group, which spearheaded the event. The two-day event not only featured a roster of distinguished speakers but also facilitated valuable dialogue on how local herbs and spices can contribute significantly to the state’s growth and economic prosperity, making it a pivotal moment for local farmers and stakeholders alike.
