RITE FOODS, iCREATE, PARTNER ON RECYCLING CAMPAIGN

Rite Foods Limited is collaborating with iCreate to launch the “iCreate Club Programme” in schools in Lagos State. Rite Foods will be doing this under the Rite Recycle Initiative. The programme is designed to “educate and empower children on the importance of recycling and its role in building a more sustainable world.”

A release by the Rite Foods Limited states that the schools involved will include public and private educational institutions in the state. It says that the campaign will be taken through at least 50 schools, while two approaches will be employed for the campaign. The first approach will be a reading tour of 50 public schools during which time a special Rite Foods story book will be read to the students.

The storybook titled “Don’t Waste Your Waste” will introduce the students to the concept of recycling of wastes. The practical aspect of the students’ engagement will involve the craft of transforming used Rite sausage roll wrappers and cartons to innovative steam-based creations. This is expected to bring about creativity and environmental awareness in the students.

The creative minds will meet on July 6 this year at the NECA House Events Centre, Central Business District, Alausa, Ikeja. There, the finalists will participate in an exhibition where judges will pick the winners who will go home with some good prizes.

The objective of the competition is to expose students to application of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics concepts in their creative recycling projects. It will also engender collaboration between schools, students, and the community.
