Dr. Marcus Ogunbiyi has resumed duty as the Permanent Secretary of, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (FMAFS).
Ogunbiyi’s resumption is the sequel to the recent deployment of Permanent Secretaries to man various Ministries by the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (HOCSF),
Speaking during the handover ceremony at the Ministry’s Conference Room, Ogunbiyi pledged to drive the agriculture sector towards achieving food and nutrition security as well as enhance the economic growth of the country.
Ogunbiyi noted that the agriculture sector is among the top four priority areas of the agenda of the Present Administration in terms of food security, job creation, poverty alleviation and economic growth.
He said, “With a PhD in Agriculture Engineering, open door policy and wealth of knowledge, we will take the Agric sector to a higher and higher level .”
He further tasked the directors with the need to support the ministers to achieve their mandate in the ministry, which is to achieve food sufficiency and boost the economy.
In his remarks, the outgoing Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Temitope Fashedemi thanked the management and staff for the support given to him while appealing that equal support should be accorded to Ogunbiyi.
The highlight of the event the Principal Information Officer Ogbuagu Chika said was the signing, handing and taking over documents by the outgoing and incoming permanent secretaries on Wednesday.
