NIGER STATE COMMENCES LIVESTOCK DEVELOPMENT TO ENHANCE FOOD SECURITY 

The Niger State Government has taken a significant step towards agricultural transformation with the inauguration of a 22-member Livestock Development Committee. Led by Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago’s administration, the committee is tasked with driving impactful initiatives to revolutionize the livestock sector.

The committee’s mandate includes formulating and implementing policies to enhance livestock production, improve animal health, and promote sustainable agricultural practices. According to the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Abubakar Usman, the committee’s work will align with the state’s broader agenda to diversify the economy, create employment opportunities, and ensure food security.

With a focus on strategic interventions, the committee is expected to position Niger State as a leader in livestock production and agribusiness in Nigeria. The government has expressed confidence that the committee’s efforts will yield significant benefits for the state’s economy and its people.
