NAFDAC SEALS WAREHOUSE OF COMPANY PRODUCING EXPIRED AGRO-CHEMICALS IN BENUE STATE

Some of the man-made factors inhibiting efforts at achieving food security in Nigeria are being tackled gradually. The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), as part of the efforts to ensure quality in the Nigerian space, has discovered a warehouse where chemicals used for farming is produced. The discovery was made in Gboko, Benue State, one of the states considered as the food basket for the country. To prevent the distribution of the fake chemicals to unsuspecting farmers, NAFDAC has sealed the Purity Agro Chemical Center, the suspected company, containing 724 cartons of expired patriarc agrochemicals in Gboko. The warehouse is being allegedly used to revalidate the expired agrochemicals for distribution, along with various unregistered products such as Kris herbicide, E-Tong Reapon 800WG, Onion Texas, Tomato Chiloli, and Hot Pepper.

The agency, in a post on X, said the facility has been secured, however, the owner of the company is currently at large, and efforts are ongoing to arrest him. NAFDAC also called on consumers to stay alert and report any suspicious products or activities to the nearest NAFDAC office to help safeguard public safety.
