NAFDAC INSISTS THAT IMPORTATION OF FROZEN CHICKEN, TURKEY AND CATFISH REMAIN ILLEGAL

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDC) has reminded the public of the ban on the sale of imported frozen chicken, turkey, and catfish in the country.
NAFDAC stated this during a sensitisation programme at the Kado Fish Market in Abuja. The agency reiterated its commitment to upholding the Federal Government’s policy promoting local farmers and producers of the products.
The agency’s FCT Director, Mr. Kenneth Azikiwe, urged traders to ensure proper storage of frozen products to maintain safety and quality, stressing the importance of buying locally produced and NAFDAC-registered goods.
The chairman of Abuja Fish and Frozen Food Sellers Association, Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed, assured NAFDAC of member’s compliance with the guidelines and urged the agency to fairly implement enforcement measures.
