The Quality, Health, Safety, Environment, and Sustainability, QHSES Leadership Academy, a tuition-free social innovation institution accredited by the American Council of Training and Development and certified to ISO 9001:2015 standards has donated food items and safety instruments to Heritage Homes, one of the orphanage homes in Lagos to mark its first Safetainability Day.

QHSES Leadership Academy is also dedicated to developing leaders who can effect positive change in society through professional excellence, integrity, and a spirit of service.

Jamiu Badmus, founder of QHSES Leadership Academy, while speaking at the event said that the academy’s commitment to adopting at least 20 orphanages by the end of the year.

Badmus said “Our goal is to eventually support all orphanages in Nigeria,” adding that “The essence of this outreach goes beyond providing food,”

According to Badmus, “While addressing SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDG 1 (No Poverty) by donating food and money, we aim to create a safe and healthy environment for the children. Our concept of ‘safetainability’—combining safety and sustainability—guides our actions.”

QHSES Leadership Academy’s donation to Heritage Homes included the assessment and upgrading of its facilities and providing 12 fans, exceeding the orphanage’s request for eight, and installing government-approved waste bins to enhance waste segregation practices.

Shedding light on the selection of the orphanage, Jamiu said, “Heritage Home, chosen out of three homes submitted by volunteers was established by Pastor Ituah Ighodalo, one of our facilitators at the academy’s reboot camp and is also an adopted home of one of our mentors, Dr Enonbong.”

Dr Enobong Ezekiel, General Manager of Strategy of Transformation & Corporate Performance at the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company, who was in attendance lauded the initiative, emphasising its significance in a time when self-interest often prevails.
