LAKARUWA TERRORISTS KILL TWO POLICEMEN, STEAL OVER 200 COWS IN KEBBI STATE

Just as nigerians thought that the Lakaruwa armed bandits, terrorizing states in the northwest zone of the country had been sufficiently decimated the group struck again. This time, they caused the nation great damage, as the fire exchange between them and men of the Kebbi State police command left two police personnel dead. They also made away with over 200 cows. The incident occurred in Natsini village in the Argungu Local Government Area of the state. Sources within the locality claimed that the gunmen numbering over 50 attacked the policemen who were stationed at a checkpoint along the Augie/Kangiwa road, riding dangerously on motorcycles, killing two officers in the process. Having overpowered the security men they raided the village, and according to the residents, specifically targeting the ranch of “a well-known civil servant in the area” from where they stole the cows. There are reports that the civil servants could be one Lawali Black.

Reports quoted one Abubakar Augie, a resident of the village as confirming the claim of the stolen cows from the ranch said to be owned by Black. He also said the militants were of the camp of Lakurawa. He said the invaders obviously outnumbered the few policemen manning the checkpoint, which made the success of their invasion possible.

Local government chairman, Aliyu Gulma, confirmed the incident and reported that the council is currently engaged in a security meeting regarding the matter. He added that the state government has instructed security forces to pursue the terrorists with the aim of recovering the stolen cattle.
