LAGOS MONARCH DISTRIBUTES FOOD ITEMS TO THE INDIGENT

Oba Basiru Aremu Sotonwa, Osomeku 1, Sekumade of Ipakodo, in Ikorodu, Lagos State has announced an annual distribution of food items to indigent residents, comprising the aged, widows and less privileged individuals.
He made the declaration as part of activities commemorating Ipakodo Day celebration annually.

According to the monarch, the gesture is facilitated by the Ipakodo Development Association, IDA, under the leadership of Prince Olasunkanmi Shotonwa, in partnership with some foundations like TAO Foundation. ATOO Foundation, Alhaji Sanni Dan Baba Foundation and Chapel of Transfiguration Church.

Oba Sotonwa who was speaking at the Grand Finale and reception of Ipakodo Day held at Ferry Teminal, by Dangote Roundabout, beside Nigeria Ports Authority, NPA, Lighter Terminal, Ipakodo, Ikorodu, Lagos State chargde his subjects gathered at the festival to extend hands of fellowship and love to their fellow community men and women who are in need, realizing that many people in the country today are in very critical economic condition.
“I will like to use this opportunity to appeal to all residents and indigenes of this great kingdom and Nigeria at large to continue to show support and understanding with the government of the day. I want to assure you that there would be light at the end of this dark tunnel,” Oba Sotonwa said.
He also assured the gathering that the planned construction of the Oba Sekumade Palace Pavilion will kick off officially very soon.
Oba Sotonwa said that it was decided that the project be reappraised, as a result of which the scope was expanded to include a complete redesigning of the project to accommodate a total reconstruction of the entire palace.
He said “Let me assure you that this project will kick off officially within few weeks from now, through the magnanimous support of a notable philanthropist. By God’s grace, by the time we are gathering here to celebrate the 4th edition of Ipakodo Day delebration in 2025, we will be celebrating in a brand-new Oba Sekumade Palace”
