In an effort to combat poverty and promote economic independence, Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has initiated the second phase of the Livestock Fattening Programme. The programme, part of the Kano Agro-Pastoral Development Project, aims to support livestock entrepreneurship among vulnerable groups.
Under this initiative, 7,158 goats were distributed to 2,386 women across the state’s 44 local government areas. Each beneficiary received three goats to kick-start their livestock ventures. The programme also plans to distribute cows and rams to women and youths in subsequent phases.
Governor Yusuf emphasised the importance of accountability and sustainability, urging beneficiaries to utilise the livestock responsibly and ensure the programme achieves its intended goals.
