GOVERNOR OTU TACKLES INSECURITY AND BORDER CONFLICT IN THE STATE 

Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting the state’s territorial integrity and addressing pressing security concerns. In a recent meeting with the Cross River Elders’ Forum and other stakeholders, Otu outlined his government’s proactive measures to tackle boundary disputes, insecurity, and other challenges facing the state.

The governor disclosed plans to deploy drones for effective monitoring of the state’s borders, emphasizing the need for vigilance in protecting the state’s land and resources. He also stressed the importance of collaboration between the government, security agencies, and local communities in addressing security concerns.

Otu attributed many of the state’s security challenges to avoidable misunderstandings and pledged to work towards finding lasting solutions. He also expressed concern over unchecked illegal mining activities in Cross River, describing them as a threat to the state’s sustainability.

The governor’s proactive approach has been welcomed by stakeholders, who praised his commitment to addressing the state’s pressing challenges. The meeting ended with a collective resolve to prioritize peace, development, and the overall progress Of cross River State.
