FUNAAB VICE CHANCELLOR HAILS COLLEAGUE’S APPOINTMENT AT MARITIME UNIVERSITY

The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta,

Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, has congratulated Professor Flora Tobolayefa Oluwafemi on her appointment as the vice chancellor of the Nigerian Maritime University, NMU, in the Warri South West local government area of Delta State.

Professor Kehinde described the appointment ‘as a recognition of her outstanding leadership qualities and unwavering dedication to academic excellence.’ He said that Professor Oluwafemi is capable of taking the NMU to a greater height.

The new vice chancellor, who hails from Gbaramatu Kingdom in the same local government area, was a former Head of the Department of Microbiology, College of Biosciences (COLBIOS) at FUNAAB.

An alumna of the prestigious Galilee International Management Institute in Israel, Professor Oluwafemi is a known scholar with landmark research and scientific advancement in the areas of food safety and public health. She is on record as the pioneer vice president of the Nigerian Mycotoxin Study Group.

As a gifted administrator, she did not only make a mark as head of department at FUNAAB, she also has an enviable record as the pioneer Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) at NMU, where she played a pivotal role in shaping the academic structure and laying a solid foundation for excellence at the institution.

In his congratulatory message, Professor Kehinde described Prof. Oluwafemi’s appointment as another testament to FUNAAB’s legacy of nurturing exceptional leaders and changemakers in Nigeria’s higher education landscape.

The FUNAAB vice chancellor, therefore, wished his colleague a successful and impactful tenure.
