The Federal Government has restated its commitment to making agriculture the foundation of Nigeria’s economy, pledging continued support for farmers and sustainable food production. Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, made the declaration in Abuja.
He noted that under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, agriculture has been prioritised through bold reforms aimed at empowering farmers, increasing productivity, and reducing reliance on imported food.
“President Tinubu’s unwavering commitment ensures that we no longer rely on foreign nations for our staple foods, fostering a self-sufficient Nigeria where every table is abundantly supplied by our own soil,” Kyari said.
The minister highlighted ongoing interventions such as access to improved seeds, fertilisers, and modern farming techniques for smallholder farmers, describing them as critical to achieving food security.
He urged citizens to support the government’s efforts, stressing that true independence is also about agricultural and economic self-reliance.
“With President Tinubu at the helm, Nigeria will achieve unparalleled food sovereignty where no family goes hungry and our granaries overflow with homegrown abundance,” Kyari added.bush.
