FG COLLABORATES WITH STATES TO ELIMINATE IMPEDIMENTS AGAINST MINING SECTOR DEVELOPMENT

Dr. Dele Alake Minister of Solid Minerals Development while hosting Dauda Lawal, Governor, Zamfara State in his office in Abuja on Friday reiterated the need to eliminate impediments stifling mining development in the state, stressing the importance of Zamfara State to the country’s mining sector.According to Segun Tomori, Special Assistant on Media, Alake assured his guest of the federal government’s readiness to work with the Zamfara State government to leverage the state’s mineral resources for economic development.

He reaffirmed the federal government’s resolve to collaborate with the sub-nationals to eliminate impediments hampering mining development in the country. “Zamfara is one of Nigeria’s most resource-rich states, particularly in solid minerals. It is essential for all levels of government to collaborate in responsibly exploiting these resources and ensuring that the revenue benefits both Zamfara citizens and Nigerians as a whole,” the minister stated.Dauda Lawal, is his remarks said that his visit aimed to enhance cooperation between the federal and state governments in addressing challenges in the mining sector.Lawal said “We discussed security concerns and strategies to better utilize our mineral resources for the benefit of both Zamfara and the nation.

We need to explore the necessary infrastructure to attract investors to solid minerals.”The statement added that it will be recalled that recent federal government’s efforts to improve the mining environment in Zamfara include the elimination of several banditry leaders and ongoing security operations designed to create a safer investment climate.
