Aminu Tambuwal, former governor of Sokoto State and one of the three senators representing the state at the National Assembly is back home helping with development. As part of efforts to boost agricultural productivity in the country, Senator Tambuwal, representing Sokoto South, has commenced the distribution of 4,200 bags of fertilisers to farmers in the zone.
Aminu Bala Bodinga, Special Adviser on Constituency Affairs and Stakeholders Engagements, who represented the senator at the zonal headquarters in Bodinga Local Government Area said that the gesture aims to enhance farmers’ yields during the rainy season. The man who was speaker of the House of Representatives before he became governor is one of the few national legislators who have shown proof that the agriculture inputs given to them by the federal government are channelled to the right quarters.
Tambuwal, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Housing and Urban Development, said that the Federal Government had allocated two truckloads of fertilisers to his constituency, which he supplemented with an additional five truckloads to cover all seven local governments in the district.
He said: “We have devised a transparent and equitable formula to ensure that every local government receives its allocation without bias.
“Our goal is to support farmers in all seven councils, and we will achieve this through a fair and square distribution process.”Tambuwal urged beneficiaries to utilise the fertilisers effectively, emphasising their potential to increase crop yields and improve livelihoods.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the PDP in the state, Bello Goronyo , commended Tambuwal for his tireless efforts to bring development to his constituency and the state.
