Farmers in government forest reserves in Ondo State have called on Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to embark on serious agricultural intervention, especially in areas of inputs, that would enhance their productivity. This was part of the deliberations of the farmers at a meeting in Ondo town, ahead of the forthcoming off-circle gubernatorial election in the state on November 16, 2024. The farmers, who came from several farm settlements and camps across government forests reserves in the Southern Senatorial District of the state, urged Governor Aiyedatiwa to extend the ongoing programmes, particularly empowerment of farmers, to their farmsteads.
During the meeting, the leader of the farmers, Chief Albert Ewerinde Adetona, expressed confidence in Aiyedatiwa’s capability in turning around the state’s economy. Representatives of each farm settlements took turn to speak on interventions already made by the governor in their settlements, thereby declaring their unflinching support for him.
