“EXTEND ROAD PROJECTS TO STATE’S FOOD BASKET”- ANAMBRA LAWMAKERS TASK SOLUDO

Farmers Plead with Gov. Soludo on Loan Discrimination

A group of lawmakers of Anambra State House of Assembly representing various state constituencies asked Governor Chukwuma Soludo to extend his flagship road, the Amansea-Awba- Ofemili road to Umerum, considered a food basket in Ayamelum local council area.

In a motion jointly sponsored by eight legislators among others, they called on Soludo to direct the commissioner for Works to extend the ongoing construction of the road to Umerum.  Among the sponsors are Hon Abuchi Udemezue, Hon Ebuka Igwe, Hon. Noble igwe Hon Patrick Udoba and Hon. Obi Nweke. Others are Hon. Jude Ngobili, Hon Jude Umennujiego, Hon. Ikwunne Chimezie andHon. Henry Nigeria Mbachu.

The motion read: Aware, there is an ongoing road construction at Amansea/Awba Ofemili in Awka North L.G.A, extending it to Umerum, will be 15 minutes drive to Awka the state capital from Ayamelum LGA.

Further aware of the economic potentials that will be realised by the state government, if Ayamelum LGA is connected to the state capital by Amansea/Awba Ofemili Road through Umerum as it will ease the cost of transporting agricultural goods and produce from Ayamelum LGA to Awka, the State Capital.

Mindful that the single route in and out of Ayamelum has been a security threat, an alternative route will throw more challenges to the kidnappers and other criminals operating on this only route in and out of Ayamelum LGA and its environs.
