EPE RESIDENTS TRAINED ON FISH FARMING WITH EMPOWERMENT BY LAGOS GOVERNMENT

The Lagos State Government has taken a significant step in empowering 150 residents of Epe with essential fish farming materials and training. This initiative, coordinated by the Centre for Rural Development (CERUD), aims to strengthen the agricultural sector and create economic opportunities.

The training program, held in the Igbodu area of Epe, provided participants with hands-on knowledge of modern fish farming techniques, covering everything from rearing to sales. Beneficiaries gained skills to enhance productivity and sustainability in their fish farming ventures.

According to Agbaje, “Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has ensured this initiative goes beyond skill acquisition. Beneficiaries are being provided with adequate fish feed to sustain their farming activities up to the point of sales, eliminating additional financial burdens.”

Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Office of Rural Development, encouraged participants to take advantage of the opportunity, emphasising the importance of dedication and consistency in achieving success. She noted, “I want to encourage you all to take this opportunity seriously and make the most of it. With dedication and consistency, you can achieve great success in fish farming.”

To further support the participants, they received smoking kilns, fish feeds, and tanks to help establish and expand their fish farming businesses.
