ENUGU RESIDENTS ALERTED OF CHOLERA OUTBREAK 

Residents of Enugu State have been warned to be cautious of a cholera outbreak in the state. The state ministry of health gave the warning on Monday following the recent nationwide cholera outbreak, which has also affected the state.

A release signed by the state Commissioner for Health, Prof Emmanuel Obi, said the state, in collaboration with its partners, had initiated all necessary steps to de-escalate the situation following the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) guidelines.

He stated that, “We, therefore, urge the public to be vigilant and practise good hand hygiene by washing hands regularly with soap and running water, or alternatively use hand sanitisers; use potable water from reliable sources; and intensify safe practices of food handling and preparation hygiene.”

He also advised the residents to use gloves and face masks and be careful when caring for sick individual and advised the public to immediately report any sudden case of watery diarrhoea to the nearest healthcare facility.
