CRITICS CARPET LAWMAKER FOR PALTRY CONSTITUENCY SUPPORT TO FARMERS

The Labour Party Federal Lawmaker, Ginger Onwusibe has come under attack from people who believe that his support to farmers in his constituency wàs insulting and a mockery of empowerment initiative. The lawmaker reportedly empowered his constituents with cassava stems, yams, maize, and cucumber seeds to mark his one year in the national assembly.

Hon. Ginger Onwusibe, who was elected on the platform of the Labour Party, distributed these seeds to the beneficiaries during a ceremony held at Isialangwa, Abia State. So, why are people critical of his gesture? The reason is he gave each beneficiary approximately 10 pieces of cassava cuttings, two yam seedlings in addition to other seeds such as maize seeds contained in small nylon bags.

The empowerment programme by the Labour Party lawmaker has generated debate among Nigerians on social media, with many questioning what would be the impact of giving farmers only 10 cassava cuttings to cultivate on overall agricultural productivity.

He is not a first timer at the legislative hiuse. Hon. Ginger Onwusibe previously served as lawmaker representing Isialangwa North in the Abia State House of Assembly under the platform of the PDP between 1999-2023.
