After Osun state government has condemned the killing of farmers in the state, Ifeland Peace and Development Movement, a non-aligned group, has implored the law enforcement agents to fish out the perpetrators and prosecute them. The group said by doing this the authorities would have taken a noble step to address the issue of recurrent criminality in the community.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the group, it condemned the tragic deaths of farmers by suspected criminals posing as advocates for the community in Ile-Ife and environs. The statement said further that the Ife Development Board and Modakeke Progressive Union should persist in denouncing criminal activities and promote harmony.
the statement reads in part, The Ifeland Peace and Development Movement, a voluntary non-aligned group of professionals, businessmen, and women who are indigenes of Ile-Ife and Modakeke, has condemned the recent killing of farmers last week in Ifeland villages around Toro, Aba Panu…villages by criminals pretending to be representing community interests.” The IPDM condemned the killings, while also calling on law enforcement agencies to fish out the criminals and ensure that they face the law.
