In what appears a further claim to leadership in Cocoa production in Nigeria, Calabar, capital of Cross River State will host the national cocoa festival this month. The Programme which is being planned by the Cocoa Farmers’ Association of Nigeria, CFAN is the 3rd edition of the National Cocoa Festival. It is a two-day event scheduled for Wednesday, October 23, and Thursday 24, 2024 at Metropolitan Hotel, formerly Transcorp in Calabar.
The topic to be treated on first day bothers on the belief that the production and productivity drive in cocoa should not encourage deforestation, as the protection of the forests must be paramount to the our priority.
By the second day participants will be looking at why consideration for Nigeria’s socio-economic and environmental problems should be uppermost in working towards strengthening the Cocoa industry in the country.
