Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, is seeking partnership with Baroness Sandip Verma, former UK minister of energy and climate change. Governor Alia said the move was to boost agricultural investment opportunities for foreigners in the state and country at large.
The governor expressed confidence that the partnership will enhance development in the agricultural sector in the state. He recalled Baroness Verma’s past development efforts in Nigeria and Africa, which he saw as the credentials needed to build hope on the partnership with Benue State.
Alia said, “We are the food basket of the nation, we lost out on opportunities in the past, but our current efforts aim to unlock these benefits for our people and the state”.
Responding, Verma, expressed gratitude for the invitation, as she pledged robust development through her connection to Nigeria, offering support for the country’s women empowerment initiatives.
