The government of Ahmed Ododo has won a bulls eye for Kogi state in the area of foreign investment. A delegation led by the governor recently secured a landmark partnership with Hunan Province, in China. The partnership is to enhance development across key sectors in the state, including agriculture, mining, and industrialisation.
This was made known by the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Kingsley Fanwo, who described the Governor’s trip to China as a “masterstroke” that will change the investment narrative of Kogi State. The partnership will boost the state’s agricultural and solid mineral sectors while attracting foreign investments and advancing collaboration towards the realization of the Ajaokuta Industrial Park.
Hunan Province, south central China is first in nine provinces known for agriculture, solid minerals. A landlocked province where rice, among other crops, is cultivated, Hunan shares similarities in agriculture and natural resources with Kogi State. Therefore, the partnership aims to unlock Kogi’s vast agricultural and mineral potential while fostering industrial growth and infrastructure development. Already Chinese investors have started indicating interest in the project. The agreements signed by Governor Ododo and Governor Mao Weiming of Hunan Province focus on the development of an Industrial Park in Ajaokuta, which will serve as a Special Economic Zone (SEZ), creating opportunities for local and international investors.
