AGAIN, STATES GET RICE FROM ABUJA AS PALLIATIVES

In a bid to cushion the effects of food insecurity and hardship on Nigerians, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has distributed 740 truckloads of rice to the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation disclosed this while addressing state House Reporters after the Federal Executive Council meeting on Monday said the rice is to be distributed to the most vulnerable Nigerians, noting that the Tinubu administration is committed to making sure that Nigerians have food on their table.

Idris said each state, including the FCT, was given 20 truckloads containing 1,200 bags of 25kg of rice, while appealing to state governors to ensure an effective distribution of the food item to reach most of the needy.

He said that the President directed the Minister of Agriculture to ensure that food was made available to Nigerians.

FG also approved the procurement of 2,000 tractors, and 1,200 trailers and set up a committee to help in proffering solutions to the food crisis rocking the nation.
